Encryption Key Data and Product ID

In the AutoCrypt SL wizard, the Product ID and Encryption Key Data (Envelope Key and Envelope) must be retrieved from SOLO Server Automation. Using this data ensures that only licenses from your SOLO Server Automation account will be able to activate your software.

Important

If you are using the evaluation of AutoCrypt SL, for convenience this data has been pre-configured with SOLO Server Automation test account data. If using your own SOLO Server Automation account, you must follow the steps below to copy the Envelope Key and Envelope from your account.

When you set the Product ID, only licenses generated from product options under that Product ID will be able to activate your software. If a customer attempts to activate with a license from a different product, it will give them an error.

To retrieve the Product ID:

  1. Login to SOLO Server Automation.
  2. Click the menu Configure / Products.

  3. Copy the Product ID for the corresponding Product for this application. If you have not created a product yet, view the Product Configuration topic.

  4. Paste the Product ID into the AutoCrypt SL Product ID field on the Encryption Key Data wizard step. The default Product ID corresponds to our generic Test Author SOLO Server Automation account.

AutoCrypt SL license files are XML documents that have been encrypted and digitally signed to secure the contents and prevent unauthorized modification. The Encryption Key Data consists of an envelope containing the encryption keys needed to handle license file encryption and decryption, and an envelope key used to decrypt the envelope.

Follow these steps to set the Encryption Key Data:

  1. Click the menu Configure / Products then use the Actions dropdown and click View Encryption Key Data.

  2. For the Format, select the option for: "Envelope for Protection PLUS versions 5.12.1.0 and later or AutoCrypt SL. 1024-bit Encryption Keys."
  3. Copy the contents of the Envelope Key field.
  4. In the AutoCrypt SL wizard, navigate to the Encryption Key Data screen, and click the Paste button under the Envelope Key field.
  5. Return to SOLO Server Automation in your web browser. Copy the contents of the Envelope field.
  6. Return to the AutoCrypt SLwizard, navigate to the Encryption Key Data screen, and click the Paste button under the Envelope field. The default encryption key data corresponds to our generic Test Author SOLO Server Automation account, but note that it will be different than what you see in the screenshot below.
