SOLO Server Release

We are happy to announce the 2022 annual release of SOLO Server, with numerous enhancements, including 4096-bit encryption support as well as support for Windows Server 2022!

4096 Bit Encryption Key Support

With the Protection PLUS 5.21.4.0 release, support was added for 4096 bit encryption keys. This release includes the corresponding support for 4096 bit encryption keys in SOLO Server. For more information, see our blog post on the Protection PLUS 5.21.4.0 Release, and check out our knowledgebase article.

Administrative Interface Enhancements

  • A new Delete Removed Parameters custom parameters setting has been added which when enabled will cause any parameters no longer present in a custom parameter set to be removed from the xml blob when editing an existing license.
Delete Removed Parameters
  • The license details page now includes the number of currently active installations, and the license export report now includes this when run against a specific customer.
Activated Installations
  • The add multiple licenses page has been improved to retain bundle pricing and custom parameter data when moving forward and back through the multiple steps.
  • The external reference fields on the customer and license details pages now format the values as links opening in a new tab/window if the values start with http:// or https://.

Shopping Cart and Customer License Portal Enhancements

  • Several updates to the shopping cart login page have been implemented to improve the forgot password experience for the customer.
  • Administrative users can now specify additional payment terms on the shopping cart and invoice details pages. In addition, the additional terms are displayed on the order confirmation page if specified when processing an order.
  • The manual request page in the customer license portal now includes copy/paste buttons so the user does not need to use the right-click context menu or keyboard shortcuts.

Web Services Enhancements

  • The Expiration parameter for the XmlLicenseServicre.Add web method is now optional, and if omitted the license expiration will be calculated based on the product option Days to D/L setting.
  • The CustomerServer.CreateCustomer web method now supports passing an empty password field to generate a random customer password.
  • The XmlLicenseService.Add API endpoint now auto-populates the customer parameters xml blob with default values for any parameters that are marked as required.

Other Enhancements

  • Windows Server 2022 is now supported.
  • All customer mailings which include dates (including search/replace fields) now use MMM DD, YYYY format so things are clear globally regardless of the local short date format.
  • Several enhancements to the Avalara Avatax integration.
