SoftwareKey Metering

Features

There are two components to the SoftwareKey Metering System™:

Client: A wizard-like Windows® application called Instant Metering injects the license control and software metering client functionality inside of an existing executable.

Server: SOLO Server is the licensing server that activates, limits, monitors, and reports on application usage. It is available as a hosted managed service or as an application that is installed in the enterprise.

Application Access Controls

From a central server, administrators can control who uses which applications by:

• Issuing permanent or temporary licenses/time limited licenses
• Revoking unused or unauthorized licenses for particular installations or users
• Preventing the application from running outside the corporate network
• Optional integrated e-commerce module allows users to purchase their licenses if that is required

Usage Reporting for Compliance

Administrators can collect application usage data for reporting and analysis.
Data examples:

• Name of application executed
• Windows user name
• Computer name
• Start and approximate end times (accurate to within 1 minute)

Combined with information on licenses owned, companies can either limit application usage to fit within their license pool, or decide to pay their software vendors if they use more than they have acquired. Having this usage data can empower companies to fairly charge back application usage to various departments.

Deployment Model Options

Customers have the option of a fully in house on premise solution, or a hosted SAAS (software as a service) model taking advantage of Concept Software's existing, proven SOLO technology that has managed millions of transactions.
